frequently asked questions

Transformational Coaching, sometimes called Deep Coaching, is a person-centred form of life coaching focussed around the self-actualisation of the client. What this means is that rather than just focussing on problem solving or explicit goal setting and achievement, I help my clients dig deep into who they are, who they wish to be, and what really matters most to them. This is personal development in the truest sense. Transformational Coaching aims to bring about a permanently transformed, expanded or shifted way of being.

The best way to answer this is to invite you to experience transformational coaching for yourself by booking a Discovery Call with me. You will have the opportunity to ask any questions you have then. Click on the “contact” button at the top of the page to arrange a convenient time to talk.

Self-actualisation is the process of reaching one’s fullest potential and becoming the best version of oneself.  It’s all about the personal striving to fulfil our unique talents, capabilities, and aspirations, leading to a sense of fulfilment, purpose, and inner satisfaction.

This transformative journey involves continuous personal growth, self-awareness, and a deep understanding of one’s values, strengths, and passions. Self-actualised individuals are driven by an internal motivation to achieve personal growth and contribute positively to society.

My role is to support and guide clients in their quest for self-actualisation, enabling clients to explore their desires and values, and to identify the steps needed to align their lives with their authentic selves. It’s a dynamic process that looks different for each person, and which can lead to profound self-discovery, increased resilience, and a more meaningful and purposeful life.

General coaching can help with a wide range of issues, including career transitions, relationship challenges, self-doubt and limiting beliefs, stress and anxiety, and more. Essentially, if there is an area of your life where you feel stuck or unfulfilled, coaching can help you break through those barriers and create the life you truly want. Transformational coaching aims to take this process further and deeper – helping clients to create literally transformational change for themselves.

If you’re feeling stuck, unfulfilled, or just know that there’s more to life than what you’re currently experiencing, transformational coaching may be right for you. Book a Discovery Call to experience it for yourself and ask any questions you may have. It can help you gain clarity, understand what’s really important to you, and take meaningful action towards the life you truly want.

You could say that nobody ‘needs’ a coach as such but pretty much everyone would benefit from working with one. It was discovering the power of coaching over twenty-five years ago that inspired me to train so I could help others experience its powerful effects. Think of it this way, world class musicians and sports people, wouldn’t get to where they are without the help, guidance, and support of coaches: would you like to be a world class you?

You could be right. Really successful people usually have several! Different coaches for diffierent aspects of their lives and careers. Really successful business people, musicians, and elite sports people recognise the value of coaching, and use it to give them the edge and to operate at their optimum.

This is an easy one: we don’t. Well, at least we don’t solve our client’s problems, we equip and support them to solve their own problems. Think of an elite sports coach for a top-seeded tennis player. You don’t see the coach on the tennis court taking the hard shots. No, they’re in the crowd, cheering on their player to victory and celebrating their successes. And when failures occur helping them learn from them and be better prepared for the next challenge.

Just as every client is different so each session is different though of course there are common features. For starters you’ll be given plenty of time to explore the things that matter most to you in a atmosphere of patient empathy.

When I trained as a counsellor in the 1990s it all took place in person but life and work has changed since thene, and while in-person coaching is still a great experience, the convenience of being coached remotely offers almost all the same benefits. I can offer in-person coaching when circumstances allows.

There will be plenty of opportunity to talk through the coaching process and to ask any questions you may have during our discovery call.

While this is a little bit like the question about string, it should suffice to say this depends upon a number of factors. Some clients will notice rapid change within the first couple of sessions, others will need more time to realise the transformation they desire. As every client is unique with unique challenges, circumstances, and requirements this is best discussed during a discovery call, when all your questions can be asked.
